What commuting in China looks like...
Doesn't seem a hell of a lot different than around here!
Wrong. Always.
very cool vid FO
lol - what a shitshow
We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

I dunno, the only shitshow I see is the guy speeding on the motorbike.
Let's now see a busy street in BJ (that's Beijing Splinky, not a good Friday night).
If you weren't trying to go faster than the cars, could you get away with staying in one lane and going pretty much in a straight line?
Pretty cool vid. How is the bike theft? Safe to lock it up on the street?
you're on a bicycle or moto? Looks fun
bicycle, fixed, brakeless

Yeah but then you just get cut off, pushed around and bullied.

If you bring a krypto lock or equivalent and use some sense about where you park it it's safer than Vancouver. The thieves aren't as sophisticated at lock breaking and never steal bits of bikes like wheels and shit.
It also helps that the bike lockup area at work has an actual guard.
My commute looks almost the same. On the other hand, I expected more cyclists on chineese streets.
Velosurance Bicycle Insurance offers the availability of a multi-risk, stand-alone bicycle insurance policy allowing cyclists to insure their bikes for theft, physical loss, damage, and liability.
^Cars are all the rage now. Cars make you look rich, looking rich gives you more face so people make all kinds of silly sacrifices so they can buy a nice car.
Sitting in traffic for 4 hours a day is a small price to pay to appear wealthy in China.

I was quite happy to be commuting in a van driven by someone not me. No way in hell would I ride a bike, especially without a helmet like everyone else.
My favourite spot is the no U-turn stoplight. Check out the action there.

sorry for the cheezy tune, but it had to be done.
