Yeah … were you driving or on a bike? Bike commuter on bike commuter drama is like the lesbian porn of cycling.
ok - do my best to explain.
Riding my Peeler cruiser on the Union St. bike route. A very busy am bike route. Usually 15-20 bikes at a time gather at the main st. red light. Kiwi on his soft-ride goes flying down the road - close to 40 km/hr (or faster) weaving in and out of other bike commuters. Blows through the Gore st stop sign without even slowing down and continues to weave in and out while riding in a confined space bike lane (sequestered lane bordered by a curb on one side, parked cars on the other)He is forced to stop at main st. for a red light. I catch up to him without any effort and decide its a good opportunity to call him out (i cant resist calling out wankers who take advantage of the fact that people generally wont say much to dickwads) - pretty much tell him to stop riding like an idiot because he's endangering the riders around him and contributing to the fodder others use when pointing out that cyclists in vancouver are a nuisance and generally an unruly bunch of morons. -- he didnt like that. Tells me to fuck off (fuck you and fuck your opinion is what he says.) I reinforce my point at which he responds to by throwing his bike on the ground and declaring "ya wanna go? ya wanna go? - all in front of a crowd of about 15 other cyclists gathered at the red light. Light goes green, i ignore him and carry on.
He picks up his bike catches up and bitches at me as he passes but is forced to stop at the next red light on pacific - where i catch up to him again. He continues to tell me to fuck myself and my opinion - at this point im getting fed up with the douche and tell him its not an opinion but a fact that hes an idiot and rides like one. Light goes green and I carry on. He clips in - rides next to me and tries to cold-cock me in the head while I'm riding. Hits me helmet instead, knocks off my sunglasses. I throw my bike down and knock him off his bike - not too sure what happened next but he tried to take a swing at me, missed wildly and nearly fell on his ass cuz he's wearing roadie cleats. People gather - think i might of got a shot or two in but cant recall. I did have the opportunity to stomp the shit outta his bike but decided to walk away. Basically once I stood up for myself and showed him I was ready to deal him an ass whippin he cowarded up and rode away…love to meet him in an alley with no-one there to break it up.
