My commuter (right now). Rebuilt my Xtracycle with with a Mongoose NX 7.1 from Craigslist. Loving it! Way better than the Cannondale CAAD 3 I was using with it before.

Can't seem to get my picture to work.

My Surly Krampus in commuter mode.  I've made a few changes since the piccy including losing the dropper, 160F rotor and some Ergotec M bars.

Need a flarbar commuter bike! Thinking about Surly's new Preamble...but don't know much about the genre. Sure looks neato:

The Preamble looks cool.  I like that it's not too long so you can drop bar it.

Keen 🔍. They actually offer flatbar or drop bar options.

Latest incarnation of the Krampus Commuter - The Kramuter.

I'm back on flat bars (SQ16s) and proper brakes after a stint on drops with cable pull brakes.  The -2 headset is back in giving a great 67.5 HA which is nice when paired with the 40mm stem.  The 10Zee drivetrain makes a come back as well.  Also it's good to have a dropper again.

Nice, Marty. Your commuter is a lot fancier than mine ;-)

My former commuter and current town/errands bike, bought 10 years ago in a clearout sale for $400. I think in those 10 years I spent about another $400 on wearables (tires, brake pads, chain, etc.), plus maybe $100? for the rack and fenders.

I enjoy riding it around town and on the occasional recreational ride to the lake or something like that. Panaracer semi slicks are nice for most surfaces I come across. Lots of little shortcut gravel and forest trails in the area to make an errand ride more interesting. I've taken the bike on some proper rooty singletrack too which was doable but not that enjoyable.

The drivetrain is Alivio (I think) with the cheapest 8 speed chain and cassette I could find. The 3X front derailleur is more or less rusted in place so effectively it's 1x8. Needless to say the "suspension" fork is a joke. None of it matters because the bike rides fine as it is.

Niels, thanks, it's my old HT that has been repurposed.  Much like Vik's Krampus but a whole lot less off road.

Most parts are left overs from FS / HT builds.  I do have a thing for Chromag stems tho, I've got 4 now in varying lengths and colours (only one was bought new tho).  I may even fat tyre it in summer when I can ditch the fenders altho I do like it's current utilitarianess.
