I don't care where the bike lane is, as long as it's separate and protected from cars and pedestrians and lets me scoot past idling traffic.

I understand that perspective. I think the price tag is outlandish for such a small stretch of road and it's packaged with the opposition to the West End plan. This money could be diverted to the Broadway bike lane project that the council already punted on. Despite being an "avid cyclist" Sim doesn't seem nearly as concerned with bike infrastructure as was advertised.

Main St bike lane "gap" being actively plugged. Personally, I can't say I like riding that section of road but $1.5million and four months work....

The elevated bike lane looks pretty good, but you still end up at street level on the bridge over Lynn Creek. I get that there isn't any extra room on the bridge, but they should have built a ramp to give an option to get up onto the path by MEC so you can go north along Lynn Creek and connect to the other bike paths.

I believe that bridge will be replaced in the near future - I remember seeing a sign post about it near the bridge (a few years ago!) but I don't remember seeing it recently.

Hopefully, any bridge replacement project includes improving cycle/pedestrian infrastructure at the same time ..

North side is pretty much done, and it feeds into old, very faintly painted bike lane lines across the Lynn Creek.

I walked across on Tuesday.   Would you believe there are already two westbound car and one bike lane painted on the bridge?

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with Vancouver City Council regarding the staff report entitled: "Imagine West End Waterfront Parks, Beaches, and Transportation Vision".

Council approved the staff recommendations with changes at the Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities on May 8, 2024. The final motion as approved is below:

THAT Council not approve at this time the Imagine West End Waterfront Vision, as outlined in the Report dated April 9, 2024, entitled “Imagine West End Waterfront Parks, Beaches, and Transportation Vision”, and attached as Appendix A of the above-noted report, as a guide for the renewal and upgrading of the West End waterfront over the next 30+ years as part of the City’s mid to long-term capital planning processes and funding capacity, recognizing the outstanding need to fund existing West End amenity upgrades of existing community infrastructure such as but not limited to the Vancouver Aquatic Centre, West End Community Hub (Community Centre, Ice Arena, Library, Childcare and Fire Hall), Second and Third Beach washrooms and other needs.

THAT Council approve in principle, as an exception to A above, the implementation of Phase 1 of the Imagine West End Waterfront Vision, with prioritization of a permanent All Ages and Abilities (AAA) bike lane on Beach avenue west of Denman Street prior to any removal of the existing temporary bike lane in order to minimize disruption and prior to the reintroduction of twoway vehicular traffic, subject to funding approval through the 2023-2026 Capital Mid-term Update and Park Board approval.

THAT Council Direct staff to report back on a revised strategy to scope efforts around foreshore mitigation and investments in the Seawall that are necessary to address climate impacts and ensure enjoyment of the Seawall for years to come.

THAT Council direct staff to pursue senior government and external funding and partnership opportunities to advance implementation of planned West End community amenities and a rescoped West End Waterfront Vision as and when a report back to Council has been made and adopted.

Agreed 👍

I *think* it says they want to create a bike lane on park land BEFORE removing the bike lane from the road.

If so, that's much better than just arbitrarily removing the existing separate lane to appease a few noisy individuals self-interest.

But I'm not 100% certain, and English is my first (and only!) language so gawd knows what the writer of those paragraphs actually meant...
