Heading to Silverstar in a few weeks. I currently ride a Trek Fuel EX 8 29er all mountain with 120mm front and back. We'll be riding 1.5 days and was told I could ride my Trek but I was thinking of renting a DH bike for a day?

I have no idea what the trails are like and only have Whistler bike park as a comparison, which obvs DH bike is best.

Style of riding isn't super aggressive...i like fast flowy with some tech but nothing crazy.

Any thoughts??

You will be fine. Jedi mind trick is a great flowy smooth trail. Check the youtoob vids to check it out. Its not whistler- def not Sunpeaks. An all mountain bike is fine there.

You would have way more fun on a DH bike IMO. It's long dh laps, whatever trail you ride the bike is still working pretty hard. Maybe if you were on a beefy enduro bike like a slash/range/nomad etc it would be alright.

I agree with Brock. But a touch more travel would still be better to keep you going all day...  140/150 would be perfect. Huge selection of flowy trails with perfectly sculpted berms. It's been a few years since I've been there but I felt  they really lacked the aggressive DH trails.

I vote DH bike unless you plan on just doing the blue flow trails... but even those have been pretty haggard the last few times I rode there (August, so dusty and blown out). The laps are long as Kevin26 said, so factor that in.

The black/double black tech is awesome at SS and truly deserving of a DH bike if you want to go fast... Flow, Gnar, World Cup, Dags/Chainsaw Massacre etc. I like the jump lines at Whistler more personally.

Thanks everyone! Will look into rentals...at least for one day. Then can assess whether I want to keep it for two.

What's the average rental price per day in your area?
