you're right: '88-89 was a trial season. '90-91 was the halfpipe. John Turner is still in the Valley, carving turns.

I worked there 89-90, 90-91, 91-92. I think I remember snowboards there all the years I was there. Cafeteria trays worked well too :)

Anything new on this closure? Bearclaw's event or the BC Cup?
Bearclaw is a go per an email from Darren earlier today.

I'm not holding my breath on the BC Cup event…

damn i was gonna go for the bearclaw and do some riding too but i guess not.
Seems like a lot of hills that haven't cashed in on real estate are floundering. Too bad. We're gonna end up with big Walmart ski hills - skied out crowded shit.
net loss for the mtb community, who spent more effort criticizing the mountain than supporting it.
Can't support a venue that isn't even there. Shit trails, shit maintenance. They ignored complaints and suggestions for nearly a decade. I haven't ridden there a ton over the last 6 years but every time Back and Black was not operational and it was always mid season. I paid good money to go ride their 'volunteer' built trail. What a joke. Why in the world would I support that? Its not at all a surprise this has happened. The people have voiced their opinion of the trail conditions on the facebook page and its pretty much unanimous so I can't really believe you would make such a comment.

Bearclaw and BC Cup are both confirmed this year.

I have been to the bike park a few times for races and the Norco event with friends and I really liked the trails, not Whistler smooth but still a blast, I could have blasted down Magical Mystery all day it was that fun, the tech trails off the Monster were interesting. Gotta love what you have if you had a pass there, but I can see if basic maintainance like raking the trails for opening and maybe filling in "dangerous" holes could have turned a few people off. Its a wonder Sun Peaks keeps going as they have minimal trail work too, but they have Arm Pump my favorite bike park trail. Hope the owners have a change of tune someday and it gets resurrected…..

Did anyone buy anything? I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on one of the $800 Flatlines,
So who's buying?
hopefully someone with deep pockets keen to get the bike park going again, that's who haha
I hear Mt washed has been sold…could be a megarumor though.
Word on the street is that Whistler purchased it.
