Not sure if the Mt Washington site has an error or if they are just not opening until late but their site says opening day is 28 July 2012.
Last year we were planning on a trip during the Bear Claw on August 4th and more than half the trails were still buried in snow. So I can totally see them opening that late.
June 29th. Keep in mind they will have the same snow issues as last year, and maybe a bit worse. Speaking with my contact there, they are going to try a different snow removal method that is supposed to be faster. Of course that doesn't help all the run-off that will keep the trails slick and muddy until some point in August!
EDIT: June 29th may be just for the lift, I found where it said July 28th. I know they wanted to shoot for early July, I'll check….
If only there was some sort of device you could hook onto a bikes bars and pull it uphill. Like a t-bar for bikes.
Then maybe we could open up the old Forbidden Plateau ski hill as a bike park.
How sweet would it be riding the bike t-bar during the day, then blasting down all the way to Comox Lake for swim at the end of the day.

I've been saying that for years! How much of the lift is left? Last time I was there all the chairs were still on it…

It's probably in the same state. Given the condition of that lift though, I reckon an old VW engine, a few wrench monkeys, a couple of bullwheels, and the wise musings of NBR - we should be able to concoct a cheap lift mechanism and bring the hill to life.
