ROde today, the park was real quiet, only had to share a chair once all day. The mountain is great considering the resources that they have to work with compared to Whistler, my only beef is with a couple of issues related to "rider expectancy".
When you case the first table on a trail(timewarp for example) and then pedal a bit into the second only to have the landing disappear under you and nose into the flat, that's just dangerous. If you asked and of the guys in the shop where the five most dangerous parts opn the mountain are, that second jump would come up, along with the death gulley on the way back to the Eagle chair via (Hustler)?
The mountain is great, and yeah, there are braking bumps, but whatever, it's mountain biking, but there are a few spots on the hill that are just asking for intermediate riders to axe themselves. Sort those out and the hill gets a 9/10.
PS I still had a great time!

That toilet bowl on lower hustler took out another rider recently.
You hit the nail on the head.
Consistency, or in this case, lack thereof.

I like the hellavator/toilet bowl/ whatever you wanna call it, on hustler… but I've seen people go down in it for sure. There's also that weird rock rolldown thing on wizard that says 'drop' but its like a ladder up a rock then a rolldown to the right, but if you go in with a bit of speed ready for a 'drop' you'll go straight off into the bushes
Thinking about driving up from Vic sunday. Anyone know the condition of the runs?
They were working on a bit of grooming last weekend when we were up but I don't expect them to be much improved. We will be up there tommorrow providing the weather is not too shitty.

cool well I guess I am going to risk it and drive up. If you see a red norco aline with white rims say hey. I will be riding solo tomorrow.
I think I saw you!:)
We only rode for a few hours; we didn't get up there untill about 1:15 and then I had shifter cable issues, followed by a flat (first one this season). The conditions were much better than I had expected; the heavy fog and light rain of the last few days made for great dirt.

I had a blast today. Lovin the sticky dirt
Went up for closing day. It was a little muddy and very quiet.
I think a lot of riders were expecting crappy weather based on the overcast valley. Great for us though as the mountain wasn't very busy (unlike last year) and the dirt was nice.
rumours are already flying - no bike park in 2011??
(clarification - as some people can't take a joke - this is just a joke because OMFG is there a lot of snow right now…)

Dude - 700 cm base and at least two more major storms to go…
If anything - no July 1 opening this year….unless it gets real warm real fast..
