Official Coast Gravity Park thread

Anyone up this past weekend? Was it super busy? Thinking of going again this coming weekend but it might be a zoo with the nice weather forecast. Saturdays seem to be busier than Sundays…

I went when they were at 'capacity' and it was fine

Secret is out, 100+ riders there last Saturday. Waits were long but the trails were amazing as usual. CGP is pretty much the only option if you want a decent jump line in the winter.

I wish they would open on days other than the weekend, especially during times like this. I bet the demand in Whistler would be high.

Yep, not a lot of us bike/ski bums get weekends off. But I don't know if we really count for much, Whistler to Sechelt is a pretty long expensive trip too.

Do they run longer hours in the summer? I'll go back then when Whistler is open and the pressure is off.

Yeah I think they are open 7 days/week in July and August.

Phenomenal trail conditions today. Dry but still tacky with berms carved of butter. Just the right number of riders- waiting for the trucks to come down is a welcome break.

this may be a silly question, but I am moving to BC in a few weeks (from Ontario), looking to get into more aggressive biking (DJ/DH), would a hardtail survive these trails? Maybe not the pro ones, but otherwise? I've got a pretty decked out DJ bike I'd like to possibly ride on these lines some time.

I ride the park on a Transition Double, 80mm rear travel, 120mm fork, small block 8's, a full DJ set up. All the trails are a blast but most of my day is spent on the large jump trails as its just so fun on the slope bike. Some of the funniest riding Iv ever done. I would not feel out of place riding those jump trials on my DJ HT I would throw on a front brake on as the speeds are vary quick with the small tires. The trails are vary smooth I pick my Double over even my 160mm trail bike.

Awesome, thanks guys, I'm going to give it a go eventually. It will be a bit until I can afford to put together a slope style/FR oriented bike. My set up is an Octane one zircus, Marzocchi DJ1s, deity components, hydro rear brake, small block 8s. Will definitely consider getting myself a front brake before I hit this stuff up, I figured that would be the main concern.
P.S can't say I am amazing in any regard (remember moving from Ontario..no mountains lol) but I am trying to get to a point where I can say I am amazing/close to it and practice makes perfect.
