I'm heading out for a bike trip through the Interior [HTML_REMOVED] onward to the Rockies.
I'm considering spending a few days in [HTML_REMOVED] around Golden.
Has anybody ridden the bike park at Kicking Horse?
Is it worth one day….two days…a week?
Should I bother bringing a DH rig, or is it fine for an enduro?
Any advice, recommendations, trail conditions at the park would be appreciated.

Worth a day or 2 yes. For myself its big bike only.
I would say one day in the park and another on Mt 7.

Kicking Horse is worth a day, big bike only.
Big runs 4000'+, she's steep and rocky so bring a tube and some new brake pads.
Mt 7 shuttle is a must.
If you have time Panorama is a fun bike park and Mt Swansea in Invermere is pretty fun too.
Bring a camera the views from these places are spectacular.

Schedule is flexible, so I will definitely consider these options.
Mt.7 can be done with 2 wheel drive, a lot of washboard, not too steep.
Mt. Swansea is 4 wheel drive and has some steep bits.
both are fun rides.
Mt 7 looks like a great option as well. The reviews mention it is rideable uphill.
How does it compare to say….Mountain Highway switchbacks?
Mt7 is a 4000ft climb up a dirt road. As an alternative to driving or riding, the local taxi company will run a van up there with bikes for about $50.
It's certainly best on a DH bike, but I wouldn't skip it if you only have a trail bike. Best trail I've ever ridden IMO.

So impressed, huge variety and long, long laps.
Its expensive to rent a DH bike. If you have a good all mountain bike that can handle the shore you will be fine.

We were there for a wedding last weekend, one of my friends snuck away and climbed Mount 7 early. Said it wasn't that bad a climb as compared to what we usually do. Although he said a shuttle would be way preferable.
Favorite Lap at the bike park: Pipestone, Time Travel, Blaster, Pioneer, Wildrose. Lots of rock rolls and funky obstacles. Two big rock rolls under the gondy on "Rock and roll trail", Didn't have the courage to do the second longer one. Next time.
Will def be visiting KH one a year from now on. Worth the drive. Perfect bikepark week would be KHR then to Silverstar, then finish up at Sunpeaks.

Well,, we also managed to get to Kicking Horse almost 2 weeks ago.
It was dang smoky when we got there, but there were decent views from the alpine.
Great trails, but they were a lot bouncier that we expected (think Top-of-the-World). We rented the Scott Gamblers [HTML_REMOVED] at first we chuckled at the strap-on fork stanchion protector thingies, and wondered if they'd be a pain in the rear. Turns out we didn't notice them at all while riding.
What we did notice was how sharp [HTML_REMOVED] rocky the trails are. 3 flats in 2 runs! And that was at a high PSI!
We settled into the groove [HTML_REMOVED] thoroughly enjoyed the runs….almost nobody was up there (the lifty figured that there was less than 20 people that day). So we made up for the repairs (long story, but the rental shop had given us a cone wrench to remove the rear wheel!) [HTML_REMOVED] we rode our arms and asses off.
Highlights were Blaster, Super Berm, [HTML_REMOVED] Slick Rock (?), and following the Enduro cup race course…as well as that toilet bowl wood feature under the chair.
One word of caution….beware the wind when traversing the ridge!
One thing you should be aware of if riding here, is that the ammenities are decent, but limited….[HTML_REMOVED] they close promptly at 6:00…so if you want to avoid the 26km round trip to pick up beer in Golden, make sure you get the cold ones before closing time or make sure your cooler is stocked.
