Dave Smith joined Chris Winter's Big Mountain Adventures in Costa Rica and lived to tell the tale.
Smells Like Monkey - Adventures in Costa Rica
Costa Rica!Morocco!Italy!…even the Swiss Alps!!- My goal in the next three years will be to join up on at least one of the Big Mountain Bike Adventures. It must have been an experience of a lifetime!
Oh man…that sounds wonderful, I need to make way more money….lol.
I got asked by a few people why I bothered to pay out to go riding half way around the world when there was plenty of riding to do in my backyard and writing that piece made me realize what a unique experience it was. If you can afford it I would say a trip like this is pretty much mandatory.
You can all go to hell. I'll be joining you shortly and I'm bringing beer and cheetos.
Nice write up Dave!!
Man I wished that trip was in the cards.
epic rides are what it's worth - when you have to travel to ride you cherish it so much more than the stuff just around the corner…
I still remember ever detail of riding Mount Haleakala on Maui, and that was 15 years ago!

Well put!
It certainly was a trip of a lifetime! Reading that story brought back so many memories, stories and feelings. Well done Dave! I still giggle a little inside whenever I see a cow.

My sentiments exactly!! Any yes, a trip like this is a must do… it'll be the best debt you ever pay off. Here's a few more pics of that beautiful country… I only wish the pictures could give you that Pura Vida vibe that pulses from the country!!
That small road winding on top of the ridge is the Interamerican Hwy!!
Part2 is all about the Peak of Death…It will be up soon I think. I could have spent another thousand words on the beach extension but it basically went like. Pssst - Glug,Glug - ahhhhhhhh - Pura Vida- Swim - Sleep - Pssssht - Glug, Glug - Pura Vida.

Email Chris. I would think you could reserve a spot at any time. I talked to Paulo today after he saw the article and there are a few spots open for this spring.
