Shoeing on the Shore - like methadone for riders?

FYI the article mentions that we don't carry snowshoes this year. Correction - we do have Atlas shoes (923, 925, 1023, 1025 and Run models). They're available in all stores while supplies last. And we match MEC and Coast prices.

I certainly prefer the Fromme 'openline' experince to the tracked Seymour Ski Hill experience but have found the equalizer.
To ensure that the Jones to DH is fulfilled pick up a Crazy Carpet (light, cheap, strong) and scoot back down the trails that you have gone up. Most fun at night, near ski hills. Goggles might be an advantage as well. Last time I bought a Crazy Carpet it was $1.87 at Zellers so I bought 4 !

Snowshoeing rocks!

The girl and I went up Cypress last year. The marked trails were really borring… but we decided to hike up to Hollyburn Peak, and we got fresh tracks.

Great way to get out! Excellent write-up!

Awesome article Cam! You are always able to keep the stoke alive all year round. We're actually doing a snowshoe roadtrip this winter for our vacation since Helena cannot ski this winter.

We snowshoe almost weekly over the winter months the local mountains are great for snowshoeing usually till March at least. Obviously the best time to go is after any dump on the local mountains.

We stick to the bike trails on Cypress, Burke or Eagle although this year because of the friggin huge snow BBY mountain and even the hiking trails around Buntzen and Sasamat lake have been really good for shoeing. Its really cool to snowshoe in deep snow around a lake that's not frozen, that was a first this year.

One the coolest snowshoe routes is the one up Red Heather Hut in Garibaldi park above Squamish. Easy to get to up the well known shuttle road to the top, usually plowed but at least AWD is recommended. Its a whole day trip up to the meadows and back, friggin beautiful and not to hard. You can go farther to Elphin Lakes and stay over in the hut too. Lots of links on the net here's one :

Just watch out for crazy squamites blasting down the trail on snowboards and skis. :) They've definitely got it all up in Squamish.

I always thought the trail was called Expresso as in Brodie? Or was the Brodie model named after the same concept as the trail?

The pow looks fun. But for now I'm thinking that moving to Australia for the winter was a good call :P Though I did miss out on Aug/Sept/Oct on the Shore :(

that was 1000 Meters. it would be raining to the top of the mountain for sure. were not talking about a little drizzel either, monsoon rain to the top
