Hmmmm, some interesting points…
I think personally, as I become more globally conscious, I am becoming less of a fan of disposable one hit movie lines…
I think the sensitive spot for me is the high alpine aspect. It comes down to is this a real environmental impact or a perceived one?
Just because they took a machine up there, doesn't mean they were knocking down trees.
It appears to be a great segment and I can appreciate that they chose it for the backdrop that high alpine provides, but would I have been just as entertained by a less plowed and more natural take on the terrain? For me, probably yes.
What I don't want is for mt biking to leave a footprint that reflects poorly on the sport. If they knocked down the DJs after the shoot then I am sure after a winter or two you probably wouldn't know they were there.
A similar commentary could be had after Boyko's last behind the scenes vid where he drove his truck into the bush to knock down a bunch of trees. That taken out of context could be held up as example of how mt bikers build trails.
