Synchro: considering this is a discussion forum, you're not exactly making a bold statement in saying 99[HTML_REMOVED]#37; are talking into the wind.
I'm on the legalization side. Never smoked, but it makes too much good sense on so many levels.
I don't know if this would have changed things or not for this young man. Maybe it would have limited options, not being a runner bringing our most abundant illegal export product South, but…guys that are operating and profiting outside the law in one area will generally move to another if they are intent on that. It would be nice to remove the "easy option" from the equation, though.

I don't think that we have to focus on what is right or wrong. Everybody has there own version of it.
I met Sam when he moved to Kaslo. Rode a beat hard-tail that he re-welded to fit a 3.0 in the rear.Loads of talent.First and only manual heel clicker I have ever seen.
I Rode and built trails with him over the years.
He is a friend that I will remember always.

WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.
Tragic…
the conspiracy theorist in me wants to suggest that perhaps it was a cover up of what really went on in Jail.
But instead i will just pass on my condolences to the family.
an amazing trail builder and a good rider to boot. he will be missed and may he rest in peace
here to ride but i'm to busy building
R.I.P Sam :crybaby:
This is not what i was expecting to see on nsmb this morning. Crazyness. I can't say I'm all that shocked by his resolution to his situation - I think sitting in a jail cell facing a 20 year term in a foreign prison would be a pretty crushing feeling for anyone. I'm just feeling a little distraught by the fact that he actually did it - most wouldn't have the willpower. He must have been a pretty amazing individual to have been able to pull off all the stuff he did; Biking and helicopter flying/hijacking skills alike. The world needs more people with ambition like his. Now we've got one less. R.I.P.
never met the dude, remembered the hamster wheel and the story of his dad gifting him the axle (serious engineering) to build it, and being blown away watching the video when it came out
but its a f*cking sad situation, and condolences to his loved ones, hope they can find some peace in their grief
can totally understand why he ended things, a kid used to the open spaces of Canada, looking at being slammed in a cell for 20+ years?
no quality of life, understand his decision for sure…until you find yourself in that situation who knows what kind of mindset could lead you to end it all..been in realy bad times myself and nearly ended it so totally understand what he could have gone through :(
having previously worked for Law Enforcement here in England, the "war on drugs" is a complex subject, and it cannot work, control and taxation is the only answer (look at Alcohol prohibition in the USA in early 20th Century)
yes I smoked weed every day for 13 years…whilst working in Law Enforcement ;)
I also worked for a mental health trust during this time, and saw a lot more damage done to clients by alcohol, tobacco and hard drugs like crack and heroin, but the law is the law and until it changes, if you are going to grow, deal or smuggle drugs you gotta appreciate the consequences
personally I think his story until he got caught is f*cking RAD…flying a helicopter through some dicey weather takes mad skillz, and for that I salute you Mr Brown, RIP dude and hopefully you are somewhere better, at peace ;)

Rob, I was just going to say the same thing. Aren't helicopters meant to be a nighmare to fly ? He certainly had guts thats for sure.
RIP.

:lol::lol::lol:
yes that's just what the world needs, more people with ambition to be drug runners. becuase we don't already have enough gang shootings in metro vancouver right?
We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

I think he said more ambition. Nothing mentioned about ambition to be a drug runner. Imagine a person with that much talent making all the right decisions. WOW!!
If his life had taken a few different turns than there might be an entirely different story on the front page of NSMB.
It was his decision and nothing more. A poor one but who hasn't made a poor decision in life.
This is an absolutley terrible story about an obviously promising young kid who fell victim to the temptations of "easy money". Living in BC means that this is a constant option for people and I think that many people have been tempted to go this route. But as you come to learn the older you get, nothing in life is "easy". This sounds like a very risky situation that he put himself in and a terrible result and a tragic loss of life. Hopefully this will serve as a lesson to many young kids in the area that if it sounds to good to be true….it is!! and getting yourself involved with this type of situation ALWAYS has ramifications. Whether it is with the law, with the people you are dealing with or with your own thoughts after the fact.
The war on drugs, yes is a seemingly endless battle that may never see an end. The rewards often seem to good to pass up, but realize that you are sellilng yourself for that reward and jumping into a pool of people that you may never want to swim with. It is never worth it!
I am so sorry to hear about the tragic loss and please let everyone take the time to consider his family and loved ones when posting something here.
If you have a friend who is going down this path or considering this "easy" way of life. SPEAK UP!!! before its too late.
Stay safe!
I think it is completely disrespectful that so many here are saying shit about this without knowing all the facts. Which until the full police report is made we will not no.
There is more to come out of this then we know. Let us shut up and speak once the full story is told.

Cause that's what usually happens on the internet.
