Rampage 2012 went down, and a new winner was crowned. Here's the spoiler: he's from BC. But with 8 BC riders in the finals, it could have been anyone…

A big congratulations to Kurt Sorge! A well-deserserved win.

I think that Cam McCaul's runs were poorly judged. He deserved at least a top 5, not 7th!

Who were the judges, and exactly how blind were they?
Great riding, great coverage, horrible judging. It took away from the event.

Only the helicopter helps put things into epic proportions.

My mortal me has no clue.

The riding was incredible. I guess that the soft sand is the penalty they pay for lines that are easy to dig? I don't know, but some of those landings were deep. I agree that the only weak point was the judging. Part way through one of the announcers remarked that the competitors were starting to get to know what the judges were looking for. When they're hanging their personal safety on the line, they should know what's expected.

welcome to the bottom of my post.

Watched it live. I was shocked by how low Cam's 1st run was scored.

Great event to watch though. Mind blowing the stuff those guys were riding

150millionbizillion NUGS! I didn't think the juding was that bad, I got bored watching some of the guys just ride across the ridge, they deserved to be downscored for that compared to the guys dropping straight into the gnar.

I'm stoked for Sorge, but McCaul and Doerfling deserved better. The criteria for judging needs to be revised.

It is really hard to judge this event, as the diversity is far greater than any other dirt jump or slopestyle competition. Judging an event like this adds to the atmosphere and encourages the riders to push harder (and/or give motivation to attend), but in no way is it really accurate or the "official" word on who rode or selected the best line down the mountain. In my eyes, Rampage is an event designed to push the limits of what can be done on mountain bikes and not who can get the best score and win the competition.

He had a gnarly natural line but crashed on it 1st run, second run made it through most then over rotated a 3 on an "easy hit" (compared to everything else in his line).

FYI the entire event is still up for replay at redbull.tv
