The opening day of Sea Otter is less hectic than the following two. In no way does this mean we slacked off in finding little tidbits of interesting stuff for you to peruse.

Check out a whole bunch of the new gear at this year's Sea Otter...

Good stuff… although the Fox DOSS seatpost looks to be a step backward for the species… it hits all the features of a GD with twice the complexity and the gaudiest remote I have ever seen at a stratospheric price… they missed the boat in my opinion.

Good to see Zerode at some North American events. If you are looking for a new DH bike give the Zerode a look. I rode one all last season and loved it. There is nothing out there I would rather ride.

Bring one of these back, bring it's XT brother along also.

Shimano trickle down as usual.

Where did you test ride one? I would love to give one a go! I'm currently singlespeed on my big bike, but the gearbox at center looks like an improvement. Especially since Zerode claims to have made a better rear suspension that a bike with the weight on the end of the stays can't use.

so now you can have 9 'cables': 2 shifters, 2 brakes, 2 for that Fox fork, 1 for the seatpost, and 2 more if you have a Scott twinlock thing.

I was interested in one so I emailed the owner. We sent emails back and forth and I bought one. He shipped it to Calgary for free as soon as he got the frame ready. I built it up last winter and rode it all summer. It might sound weird but the suspension is a bigger improvement than the gearbox. The gearbox make it run super quiet and it is really responsive to bumps but the high rear pivot makes it fly through the rough stuff. Much smoother through rough terrain than even an M9 or V10. But because the chainstays are pretty short it is still good in tight stuff. The Canadian rep is based out of Vancouver or Whistler. He might have a test bike. $3500 is pretty good considering you don't have to buy a derailer or chain guide or cassette or shifter. It is about 2 lbs heavier than a comparable bike but I never noticed it. Felt just as nimble as my old Session 88.

It's the clutch added to SLX that is cool.

With the "new standard" the dr are the same you just bolt it to piece that attaches to the hanger.
