Fox's 34 chassis was released mid-cycle in 2012 to supply OEM long travel 29ers, and has since been extended to all three wheel sizes for 2013.

That's a very interesting and balanced read.
If the 34 is 20% stiffer than the 32, how much less stiff is it than a 36?
If the 34 is 0.5lbs lighter than a 36, how much heavier is it than a 32?
The way they mix up those comparisons is confusing.

Anyone know how it compares to a Rockshox Revelation RL 140? Tat seems to be main alternative to the Fox on most OEM models like Shinobi etc.
i only wish i could "demo" this premium fork on my Shinobi that came with the above fork, which has a 20mm axle. i have no idea if the 20mm plays any real role vs the 15. i do know my fork is 'fine', but doesn't even get 2/3rds of it's travel very easily and doesn't feel especially supple. to isolate the fork on the same bike vs the high end Fox would be a definitive test. anyone offer to do a weekend swap ha ha.
Had a 34 RLC on my tallboy last year, one of the best forks I've owned.
Have a 34 RLC on my TallboyC right now and just ordered up another for my Highball. You'd think that I would put a smaller fork on the Highball to keep it light but the 34 works so well when pushed hard. I've had lots of time to compare it to a Fox 32 29 tapered, QR15 and a Reba 29 tapered, 20mm and there is no comparison.
I've ridden the 34 140 on Commencal's Meta 29er. On this type of bike it's a sure fire winner. Stif and no fuss. On a hard charging 26" I would still run a 36 with RC2 cartridge. The 34 RLC or CTD can't compare with this fork's control of bump eating performance.

try tuning it before replacing it?
I have seen a few forks with this type of problem, When taken apart the air piston seal head was not sealing and the oil in the lowers made it way up into the air chamber. Thus not giving the fork full travel and making it feel like trash. If you are comfortable with doing your own work, then its quite easy to let all air out of the air chamber and remove the top cap and take a quick peak inside. With a Syringe suck up whats sitting on the air piston. If its more then 3-5cc of Fox float fluid you have this problem.
