I like to ride in the snow - especially when conditions are just right.

I had a couple of snow rides last week and I hope to get out today as well. Here's how it went last week...

Snow rides are the best…

It is so true that when you sit down there in your warm house looking up at where the mountains are supposed to be… you think you probably made the right decision.

Once I am out there… I have never regretted my decision to get off the couch.

Light on your bike is an understatment… no brakes… and trusting your tires!

Nice!

While its not quite the same as being on the trail, the commute home has been alot more interesting! Its still fun and feels great to crunch through fresh snow with nobby tires.
I have met a few other die hard commuters and we all agree, you have to get out and experience it if only for the experience itself.

"I never regret it."

Exactly.

Must always be remembered when thinking about not riding. I never regret it.

When you're hub deep, can't even pedal downhill, can't find the trail anymore, drivetrain frozen, pedals iced over… sometimes that sucks. But, like Cam says, some of the best rides are in the snow so its always worth the gamble.

I love the snow. Some of my best rides have been in the snow. I love going back to the same area a week later and seeing only my tracks from the week before. This confirms in my mind that I do indeed own the trails I ride. I can see where I scared myself and where my courage payed off (the snowtracks are 100% honest). I haven't been in much shape to ride recently due to surgery but I had to get out yesterday to taste the goodness of riding in pow (http://bb.nsmb.com/showthread.php?t=118379).

Inspirational write-up. It really paints the picture of what riding is really about. Can't wait to get back out there!

Really inspirational. I know exactly what it feels to not get up from the couch after a hard day at work. And sometimes I just give in…on other days I drag myself up and out and have a wicked time.

Riding when it is freezing or snowing is awesome. You really learn to go with your bike. Kinda like "blind trust" into your bike and your skills. :) Too bad that at the moment there is no real snow over here and I do not have any motivation at all.

Sometimes I find it quite difficult to not wear too much. I agree to the warm hands and cold feet thing, tho.
