I think "Hopening" pretty much sums up opening a new sports retail business.

I was surprised by the lack of sunglasses in the early photos!

Kim's shop has that fun vibe that is crucial to a sporting goods store. I am a semi fixture in that place. I stop by on the way home to unwind two or three times a week. beats hitting a bar to unwind. A bit more expensive though.

Tune-up special is general-purpose a magnet to pull people into the shop. During the tuneup, they find you need new brake pads, your BB is shakey, your rear tire is bald, your fork oil needs changing … yadayadaya next thing you know $300 bill. But at least your bike runs better!

was the Avalon just around the corner when that photo was taken? I can't remember when they tore that down.

I cannot say enough about Kim and Steed Cycles. An awesome guy and an awesome shop. Mountain biking has changed my life and Kim has had a great deal to do with it. Keep doing what you're doing. You've got it right!

during a trip to Vancouver in 2005, we quickly found the Steed shop (we were staying in a motel off Capilano)

met the owner (Kim) and found both him and his staff very welcoming and full of useful information about riding the North Shore trails

Kim's an awesome guy. Good choice for hey neighbor.
