Daylight Savings is this Sunday, March 11th. Clocks go forward, and so do after work rides! To celebrate this oh-so-important day on the mountain bike calendar, NSMB.com wants to hook you up with fresh rubber for the riding season.
Giveaway: Your favourite day of the year, Daylight Savings!
When i saw this contest it made me smile .As i lay in bed looking out my window toward the mountains I caught myself snickering . My own quest for an evening ride led me to painful position I now find myself in. Unable to bend ,lean, twist or lay down flat for that matter.Three weeks ago ,eager to get in a midweek evening ride,I had been keeping a close eye on the sunsets affect on my local mountain.Could I squeeze in a ride after work? The sun sets at 5:45 but I still think i could have good visability until at least 6:15. So I decide that if i speed on my afternoon commute, race home to get my bike and gear, race to the mountain parking lot and make a record acsent then I should be able to have good visibility on the descent. Off i went! At about 2/3 of the way up a hickup burped out of the heavens. Snow! What the hell, it was just sunny. Oh well, almost there. Once at the top, there now lay a good inch of snow.Despite the fact that my tires were picking up snow like a rolling snow ball, I opt for the technical descent…In now dwindling daylight. So I drop in over the ridge and make what seemed to be a silky smooth descent until whoops! My shitty pedals seem to have transformed into black ice shitcicles.Off both my feet went. I managed to skate out if trouble until wham! My back tire hit a large boulder and pile drived my seat into my ribs….Out goes air , in goes….. in goes…..eahugggggahh…air.By the time I managed to gather a breath it seemed the day had gone.Squeezing in a rapid evening ride now seemed a horrible idea.Following one of the most painful rides of my life ,I now find myself couped up in bed with two broken ribs. Here I lay , gazing to the hills muttering, cum on daylight!
Well, I'm on a really old light for night riding and daylight savings means fewer sketchy corners, or at least they are delayed by an hour, it also means that I can bike home (I commute to work) with more daylight and less reliance on the blinky lights. Most importantly it means that more friends are willing to ride after work especially those who are allergic to strapping on lights and night riding during the cold, dark, winter months. Above all, daylight savings means more riding and more good times with friends both old and new.

Daylight savings on the 11th means there are only 68 days until my second favorite day, the opening day of Whistler Bike Park!
No seriously give me the rubber… This winter I let the snow shralping devices fall by the wayside and I rode bikes all winter, like 4 days a week. Like my friends wonder if I still exist because I spend so much time alone with a shovel, and my girlfriend no longer knows if my hobby is riding bikes or digging holes. Anyways as a result of all this quality time with a shovel, my tires are ROACHED, and now that there's an extra hour everyday I might even stop digging holes and start riding bikes, so without these tires I'm done for.
p.s. I promise I'll use them to ride up bobsled while all of you are doing evening rides
lol some people just try too hard.

Vocab is expanding, love to see you stretching your wings of expressionistic power.

While I may be the strictest grammarian on the judging panel, I can assure you that these things will not have a great effect on our choosing a winner. Did you not read the story? It made me laugh… lighten up Bushman!
Keep 'em coming people, and remember you've got a whole week to conjure something up!
I'm afraid of the dark. Longer days make my lift more bearable.
So would some tires. Especially free ones.
Here's a pic taken in the daytime, which is my favorite time.

Here I sit, broken hearted.
Paid a dime and only… wait.
oops.. that's another story.
OK, why I love DST:
The Sad Sun… seems so happy to me,
And she never cries, with all the gray snow happeningsee,
And the future night, is so far away from me now, you see.
Cause' Daylight, is so much better for me.
And you.
Now I'm rippin earth, and thoughts of hosing are gone,
And my trail thrill… is no longer "not long"!
Cause she's shining, in a way and watchin over me now.
And you.
Time is on our side, but for a moment you see,
cause she's smilin high, red, yellow or orangeee,
And the future night is creapin back in to me,
And you.
She makes me feel warm under her radiosity storm,
And my frame and forks, seem to shine in the forest,
But the future you see, is bringing the sad sun,
So smile while you can with me,
And you.
Happy Trails!
it means Steak and BJ day is only 2 sleeps away…
