Lee Lau took these bikes on some of his amazing adventures around B.C. and he has a lot to say about the way Norco divided their all mountain bikes in 2007.
07 Norco Six and Fluid - Long term comparison test
Ah well I still love my six :D

Having been on rides with Lee and seen the setup of the 07 Six one, it seems like the bikes intent and the components are struggling against each other. I have an 06 Six one with a Fox 36RC2 and it's a much better match for the frame and resolves the decending problems of the bike without adding too much weight. It looks like Norco has addressed the issue for next year, since the Six One is spec'd a lot more Freeride, and less AM.
Lee, brother, it is time to retire that old helmet. I believe in the value of a good fresh helmet. You know why. That old bell is ancient man.
Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.
A good read, thanks.
Lee wears leg armour! That was a surprise!
Please let me demonstrate the ride around; really it's no trouble.

AMEN!
You should see the old pile of tires he has in the garageā¦

Good review Lee - and I really like your honesty with respect to your bias's.
Personally I used to own a 2003 Fluid (there's a confused bike) which I had built up to "Six" levels of burliness. Now - thanks to Norco's warrenty system I own a 2006 Six 1 frame with a pretty frankenstein build up (DHX Air rear shock - Slider front fork - mish mash of AM/FR parts). I haven't really ridden it much yet- but around town it seems to pedal pretty well. It will all depend on how I dial in the suspension. I am pretty sure it would work best with a Fox 36 Talas RC2 fork - I tried out an '07 Six SE at VPS fest (which comes with the Talas) and THAT bike had the right spec.
No comments on my review of the Fluid? I guess I really really love that bike and think Norco hit the proverbial home run with it.
I had a Norco Fluid One vintagewith the same kind of frame you had rewoga. Trish Petrella's review was so good it actually made me buy the bike. I really loved that bike - it was simply an amazingly tough frame that worked just right.
Here's a picture of that bike

I like your setup Steve. It was just a bit more downhillish. your tire choice was also better. The 2.35 Nevegals didn't quite cut it.
Still really like this picture I took of you.

Lee - I am guessing you had one of the 01-02 Fluids - the 03 was Norco's first stab at a lighter AM Fluid - needless to say both the head-tube-down tub junction and one side of the chainstays cracked after 4 years of weekend use! I understand the 01-02 Fluids were basically the 06-07 Six with 5 inches of travel (which I own now!)
Just wish I had the spare change for a 36 Talas fork - that is such a good fit on the Six frame - burly enough for downhilling but adjustable for the climbs.

I did compromise climbing quality a little with my setup, but you are right, I made it more downhilly, which IMO balanced the bike a lot better.
And those two pictures are still my two favourites of me on a bike.
mine is even more downhilly / FR. '06 Six with an '07 66 SL ATA (too bad it keeps breaking), 2.5 nevegal [HTML_REMOVED] minion, Saint Cranks, Juicy 7 etc. I rode it for the Triple Crown and do lots of climbing on it, as well as beat the crap out of it all over the shore.
Am looking forward to trying the new '08 Fluid LT! Lee if you loved the '07 Fluid so much I'm almost sold on the LT, from what I've heard it's even better
Can they not get these bikes to you earlier so you can do a review before the next years models are out? Just thinking cause now everyone's going to be looking at the '08 line which is different again. I guess that's the difference between a long term review and a gear shot though.

Mine is very similar
'06 Six with an '07 Totem 2-Step (too bad it keeps breaking), 2.5 nevegal, Hone Cranks, Juicy 5 etc.
I love it.
Once I put on a coil front shock - Manitou Sherman and bigger front tires - IRC Kujos - the Six was much more downhillish and just a better bike imo.
I'm hoping to get the Fluid LT earlier for a review.
I rode the '08 Fluid LT in Moab. It was a Really nice bike! It was a small and I should be on a medium so the climbing wasn't ideal, but it was confidence inspiring on the descent! It had the Lyric and DHX air, 2.1 kenda nevegals. Awesome bike.
I also tried the '08 Shore in a bike park in Mt. Hood. Really fun quick bike. A bit short and slack for climbing, but really nimble descending.
