In the photos of the Vigilante I tried to capture part of what I think is the
reason they break away so suddenly. The tread doesn't wrap around quite as far
as a 2.3 Maxxis or a Hans Dampf. As a front tire I really enjoyed it at first,
but once I got comfortable with it I found that edge. I would consider it a
decent rear winter tire – but as mentioned in my comment about the Trail Boss
below, beware of tires that are significantly heavier than claimed.
