Hi Xeren,
The Giant Contact posts function adequately and allow for dropper posts as
spec at lower price points (contributing to Giant's great overall values) -
and are relatively inexpensive as an aftermarket choice - so I agree they are
a great product.
They certainly do not get top marks for reliability in the circles I travel
but your millage may vary. I certainly have not ridden one for a length of
time to have experienced reliability issues myself.
I think the fit, finish, and performance of the Crankbrothers Highline is
better in every regard. Its a very well thought out product from the ease of
basic service, to the speed of installation, and the remote ergonomics (and
customization of position) are best in class as I noted in giving it top marks
of the products I've tested in 2016. It's still tight and functions "as new"
way beyond any other post I've tried with similar hours of riding. If I was
buying a dropper post tomorrow it would certainly be the Highline.
That said, if you're happy with the Contact post it is definitely one of the
least expensive on the market so I'd say enjoy! Consider upgrading to a Wolf
Tooth (or a Crankbrothers!) remote to really improve the ergonomics of the
post if you aren't using a front a shifter.
