This is a fair point, but I think the analogy still stands. Of course other
people were doing similar/better things with bicycles/music in other flung
places. The specifics of what they were doing almost doesn't matter. The
change in the way that people looked at things is what really mattered.
Johnny from Milwaukee may have had a band that blew Nirvana out of the water,
but they probably didn't cause a kid in Calgary to visit the import section of
his record store.
