My answer is yes, they saturate a bit too quickly. You noted that the helmet comes with spares, so my wife just sewed the two sets together, and that improved things nicely.
My real gripe is the MIPS-induced wiggly, noisy aspect of the helmet, but that disappears in my brain within the first 5 minutes of a ride.
And the bright orange paint faded HUGELY within four months, to which Fox essentially replied "tough bounce".
