I recently bought my dad and STEPS Cargo bike with a 5 speed Di2 Nexus system that features auto shift. It works great and he loves it but after riding the bike a bit myself I can't image wanting the same setup on trail. I 100% agree with Steve that eMTB is another step away from the pure joy of a mechanical bike. So yeah, for me it e-commuters yes, eMTB no. There is a difference. I do ride a single speed steel hardtail though so I guess my stance is to be expected.
