You know what the folks at Shimano (and SRAM, and the majority of the bike industry, and their shareholders) love even more than bikes? Profit. And that's what this is ultimately about. It's a rat race to find the next big thing for consumers to spend money on. Those consumers do so willingly and I'm sure some of this new technology will result in enjoyment for a bunch of people, but let's not pretend they are innovating for the sake of the sport or the love of bikes.
