In 1983 $2000 would get you the absolute best fully rigid rim braked no dropper non indexed not enough range hockey puck skinny tired bike. And that’s not adjusted for inflation either. Sure it had a beautifully brazed frame and bar. But this Trek is far superior in all ways.
And yeah bikes are more expensive but you get so much more bike today.
