and I though the pinnacle of drivetrains was my cable actuated, 10 speeded, Zee meched, XT shiftered, 10-42 cassetted frankendrive... (good, cheap and lightish) I was also very ambivalent - maybe i'm getting old. Great article Mike - you summed up my feelings nicely - keep 'em coming
