The sport is expensive enough to get into if you want the proper gear. Most
people who might be interested don't want to drop 4 digits + on a proper bike
in addition to helmets, pads, etc. Let's not forget replacement parts from
those technical trails. Even second hand frames are still out of budget for
occasional riders let alone trying to build on top of that.
