I think we have to be nicer to old bikes. They weren't shitty so much as just not as good as now. It's been 20 years! Everything was _relatively_ shitty two decades ago, especially things made to a price-point.
It's a little crazy how fast we can switch between complaining that new shit is so expensive and complaining that old shit was junk.
