I know on a 4x4 you make adjustment notes for a shock when it's at operating temp. But in one of those there's more oil and a lot more metal, so it takes much longer than a bike fork or shock that comparatively warms and cools fast. I'd guess the telemetry gear you see on WC DH bikes incorporate ambient and suspension temp sensors to help with this. Add to that it's generally cooler at the top of the mountain (where the racers are hanging out waiting for their slot).
