A few rides after posting the above one lever started acting up, seems like fluid is getting past the master piston seals so if I pull really slowly the lever can go to the bars. The warranty shipping costs were about the same as a new in-stock Shimano lever, so I'm on Shigura now. Alfine S7000 because I didn't want servo-wave and couldn't find/afford XTR Race, and seems to work great. No discernable loss in power and a very similar feel to the Magura lever. Anyway just wanted to note that Magura might not be my top pick anymore because, as has been said a million times, the levers are kinda meh. Keen to try Formulas or Hayes next.
