Seriously though, if it works for you repeatedly that's fantastic - I have seen examples of it going very wrong and certainly wouldn't advocate that people do it. Whether you make your own with threaded rod, buy a headset press, or, for most folks, pay someone to press in the 1-2 headsets they purchase a decade I think a press is the best practice.
At the very least. If you're paying a shop, or writing about installing headsets, I think the standard should be a headset press.
