I hope it didn’t sound like I was criticizing the desire to make things better.  If you’re riding along and thinking “I really wish it was more ________” then it’s not consumerist to pursue “________” by purchasing products.  But if you’re happy with your setup yet suddenly feel angst when presented other options, that suggests that you’re falling into the trap of perfecting things that have no true fault.   It’s a matter of where the “need” is created.  If it’s your experience then no one can rightly disagree.  But if the need comes from the existence of the product itself that’s a red flag.
