Nothing to do with construction or tread pattern, but the basis that fat tires
float more than narrow (normal) tires. You can't escape those characteristics.
Even the old Michelin comp32 at 2.8″ wide, was a very good tire in most
conditions. But because of the width, you get it into soft ground and it
skated around more than a figure skater.
