I think the idea of the transferrable warranty is being considered by more and more bike brands. I work at a Trek dealer and remember they mentioned (quietly, albeit) that they are doing some transferrable warranty. I had to look to find it, but it does exist, but isn't as good as a lifetime transferrable warranty. However, at least we're starting in the right direction?  [The fifth paragraph down here is "Subsequent Ownership"](https://www.trekbikes.com/ca/en_CA/warranty_policy/ "The fifth paragraph down here is "Subsequent Ownership"") and it states the following:  "Subsequent owners (second or later) are entitled to a 3 year warranty from the date of purchase from the retailer on the Trek frame and Trek fork. This does not include items such as wheels, suspension forks, drive train components, etc. Proof of original purchase is required." It being three years from the original date of purchase doesn't always work out super well, but maybe it's at least a step in the right direction?
