I thought this was a dumb idea a few years ago....but now with the focus on tinkering I am more interested! What are the limits in terms of of amount of gears/cable pull...could you use this system for a future with less gears?
What I mean with that is something like a newer derailleur with a smaller spread of gears, maybe even a custom spread like Andrew has tried with his friction shifter? It would be a really slick option if that is the case!
