I know most folks think I'm crazy, but I would have loved to see where the savvy Schweinfurters at SRAM would have taken Hammerschmidt. I'd have liked the two ratios a bit closer together (or for the gap to be adjustable) and a reduction in drag in the overdrive gear would have been necessary. Also, the bottom brackets were shit. But it was so durable, so tough, shifted so quick, and was really so easy to keep working nicely.  I wrote [**about the system in 2018**](https://nsmb.com/articles/defense-hammerschmidt/), but I'd **_love_** to get my hands on a fresh setup and do a proper review a decade on from when it came on quite a few bikes.
