Maybe we should look at the “Starling Fallacy” the other way round, in so far that if a guy in a shed can produce such an acclaimed bike… it begs the question what on earth are all the big manufacturers doing? Certainly at our bike shop, servicing bikes, the cable routing, bearing housing and ease of replacement leaves  a lot to be desired, as well as general  build quality. It really is no surprise carbon frames cost so much, as the numbers of some brands that require warranty replacement is getting on for 100% of those sold ( from our shop).
