As Dan mentioned, Flanks are a pretty good option. But somehow those damn rocks (or pedals) will always find a way to slice your leg open wherever it's exposed. My previous shin pads left a 1 inch gap between them and my kneepads, and as luck would have it, a root slipped straight through and gave me a real good bruise/cut. If you want really good coverage, I think ION has a full leg version (although pricey!) Soccer shin pads are great if you can get them to overlap slightly with your kneepads. I'm currently on a pair of POC shin pads, but I think they discontinued those ages ago.
