My two worst purchases were both forks: Manitou Mach5 1998-ish I bought when someone stole the RS Quadra5 that came stock on my Spesh RockHopper Comp A1 FS. That fork was very bad, but all fork were bad in those days. Marzocchi JrT 2002: 7" travel + very narrow width between stanchions + QR axle + crappy damper = Horrible fork. That's all I could afford when I bought my Balfa 2Step in 2002, but I promptly replaced it with a 6" Sherman Slider in 2003. That was much better! Thankfully, truly bad mountain bike products are very rare these days.
