I have done multiple 'overtightening tests' where I keep tightening in an attempt to break the bar. In all of several attempts, the internal nut stripped before any bar damage, which occurred around 20-25Nm, whereas only 6-7Nm is required to secure it (the hammer test was done with 7Nm).
