Cheers! Yes, totally agree. Even shortening cranks and drilling/tapping them there are minimal truly compatible options.  My kids bike has a 6spd drivetrain. All gears she actually uses and between ring, cassette, chain (removing links) I dropped about a pound out of the bike.
