I agree about quality tools (or really quality anything), but I think what Gbergevin is talking about is not that.  I'd say what you see a lot on Insta is the equivalent of XX1.  Outside of true pro mechanics that travel to races frequently, nobody needs a lot of that stuff.  GX or X01 will do just fine.   For example, as a home mechanic I'll spring for Wera L-wrenches and Knipex pliers wrenches (which I'd consider X01), but no way do I break enough chains to go with an X01, and certainly not an XX1, chain breaker.  GX will do just fine for that tool. The other thing about all of those Insta posts is how unused a lot of the tools look.  Even if you take good care of your tools and cleaned them before the shot, things like rubber handles are going to show wear if the tool has truly been used a lot.
