I hear what you're saying, but couldn't you say that about most of the bikes and bike parts reviewed on this, and other, websites? A $50 handlebar does pretty much the same thing as a $150 handlebar, after all.
I totally get it though. I now have...jeez...four quality sets of L/P handles, and probably 1 or 2 other crappy sets buried somewhere in my toolbox. When the box from Wera showed up, my girlfriend actually asked me if I was going to get rid of some of my tools, since I probably didn't need them any longer. Oh, I laughed and I laughed.
Honestly though, I don't think I have ever, in my life, regretted buying the more expensive tool option over the cheap one. Of course, there's a balancing point in there somewhere, but I've wrecked too many bad tools (and parts using bad tools) to feel badly about spending a bit on tools. But I also don't own a $400 hammer.
