The Topaz 2 emerged as a solution to frame contact with some Giant models. Another good reason could be to minimize the IFP dynamic friction: since the rotated resi on the TriAir/Topaz 2 seems to be wider, it would demand less movement of the IFP for an equal volume of displaced oil.
