Uncle Dave, you are citing outer rim widths. Most people worry more about
inner width, which is what affects tire profile. Stans Flow EX, for example,
are 25 mm between the beads.
I guess it's not really clear which width GOF is referring to. Inner width of
30 mm would be quite wide by today's standards, but the rims Uncle Dave
mentioned fit the bill for outside 30 mm.
