I thought the same thing. But having spent a few months on the Slayer and doing some big pedally rides on the Slayer I can say that the weight of this bike seems to melt away. At no point during the review period did I think, "if only this bike was lighter". I've since been on other trail bikes of similar travel that are lighter and have been less graceful to pedal around.
