Yes. Different direct-mount rings have different chainlines. I've not heard of
any that sit inboard enough to make enough of a difference to resolve this
issue (just as while many people note that it is only a problem on some frames
I've yet to see a list of bikes where it isn't an issue). They'd have to be
made of a heck of a thick piece of billet.
